Some context for the clip: Romulan Tal Shi'ar and the Cardassian Obsidian Order have collaborated to attack the Dominion in the Gama Quadrant without informing their respective governments. It is a secret mission designed to behead the dominion by eliminating the "Founders" who are a community of changlings (shape shifting species) who prefer to stay intermingled together in a 'Great Link', a connection that allows sharing of thought and will. Garak is a former member of the Cardassian Obsidian Order but was exiled by his people. One day Garak spots an assassin out to kill him, so he blew up his own shop to deter the assassination plot and to enlist the help of constable Odo to investigate who is out to kill him. Odo's investigation leads them to the former head of the Obsidian Order, Inobren Tain (i'm not too good with cardassian name spelling). Turns out that Tain decided to come out of retirement for this cooperative mission to kill the founders and was planning on returning to his previous position after the mission is completed. Tain was concerned about his former operatives because they knew too much about him and threatened his new aspirations, so he arranged for their assassinations. Garak was one of them. However when Garak confronts Tain, their old bond begins to resurface and ...

"A Matter of Time" is an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation from the series' fifth season. The episode has an average rating of 3.8/5 on the official Star Trek website (as of January 19, 2008). On the way to Penthara Four, the Enterprise encounters a temporal distortion, and discovers a small pod containing a single human. Once aboard, the pilot identifies himself as Professor Berlingoff Rasmussen (played by Matt Frewer), who has come back from the 26th century to study history. Rasmussen sets about examining the ship and interviewing the crew, but reveals little about himself. This is necessary, he insists, because he does not wish to alter history. The Enterprise heads to Penthara Four, which is suffering a planetwide drop in temperature due to dust kicked up by an asteroid impact. The crew prepares to use the Enterprise's phasers to drill into the crust and release carbon dioxide, thus increasing the greenhouse effect. The plan works, and Rasmussen, claiming this is a very important historical event, is overjoyed. Rasmussen continues his interviews, in a somewhat irritating manner, and even makes a failed pass at Dr. Crusher. Suddenly, a series of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions begin rocking Penthara Four, an unanticipated result of the drilling. The volcanic ash being thrown into the air is dense and threatens to block out the sun and cause an ice age, killing thousands. Geordi and Data come up with a plan to sweep away the dust with an ionizing phaser ...

While in the not too distant America, the 500th anniversary of Columbus 'journey' to the New World was announced as an historic success in increasing awareness of the postmodern, the different interpretations ofColumbus (the destruction of Native America, the original intention of colonialism and exploitation of resources, the fact that other fact, "discovered" America for the first time, etc.) guaranteed no particular view as dominated. This was a novelty - we no longer knew who we were. Who are we? Where are we? What happens? What is the remedy? These are the core issues, and in postmodern style, are deceptively simple in structure, and almost impossible to answer fully. DuringModern society could be, as always in progress, a sense of continuous development for the better since the failures of post-modernism of this - rich, and not always possible to improve the situation, science can not answer all the questions and indeed all the problems to solve, reason and intelligence and individuality are not non-qualified "assets" that the intelligence of their issue. But different is not only our worldview but are constructed and deconstructed, as the reality in different ways (can bea book on postmodernism that concerns Derrida? If so, it would be worth nothing?). The car is de-centered, and objective history and society has a different story - Middleton and important reference work Walsh Alistair MacIntyre, "After Virtue", which, although far from expected, a postmodern book, much of the recovery useful aspects of postmodernism interest in the old pre-modern. A criticism of Middleton and Walsh comprehensive approach is that they tend to see postmodernism as moremonolithic that it really is, maybe this is more for the structure and boundaries of the text, that their views real. Ultimately, see Middleton and Walsh in the biblical texts to prove, probably too liberal for most text to see the Bible as infallible. However, one could say that it is difficult for anyone in the texts Bible seriously, both as a document, and regarded as the living embodiment of God's word. Middleton and Walsh provide a thick description and involved in our postmodern setting. They show how the demands of replicants of Blade Runner, which, as we want to know "where they came from, where to go and how long they have" got answers. With a wide range of items, suggestthat our carnival, cultural pluralism is the result of the collapse of modernity and the failure of the myth of progress, with a recognition of socially constructed reality connected: Truth is stranger than once.

The second half of the book tries to show the resources of Scripture, to connect in this context: Biblical faith in a postmodern world. Understanding the postmodern critique, they believe robbed a gospel of signs relevant modernHope and change our culture communicates chaotic. They describe life as a faithful Christian improvisation, not by rules, but the immersion in the text of a deep intuitive sense of history and author of the movement to win the intention to continue the adventure in an alternate world.

A Little Too Dry - Ronald C. Payne -
sees in this book, the British professor McGrath discuses what culminated as future trends in Christianity in an interesting chapter on the increasing irrelevance of academic theology. In principle, Christianity is an incredible success in developing and will continue to stagnate in the West. The movements in evangelical and Pentecostal significant factor in the next century, supplanting the old main Protestant denominations. He also says that Roman Catholicism andEastern Orthodoxy powerful global forces continue to be Christianity. He noticed an interesting phenomenon that some evangelicals are converted to Orthodoxy. He feels this is the case, because evangelism is the latest addition to the Christian family and that some evangelicals have a stronger sense of connection with historic Christianity, and then Orthodox.

The main part of the book was only interesting on the rise, not a very informative discussion, as only McGrathhas 155 pages to write this manifesto Blackwell. When it was over, I probably will not finish the book. This was the first book I actually finished McGrath, because it is a trend, it's a bit 'dry times. The main weakness of this book is that McGrath told me the things I know I tend. This message means that McGrath should be more original, or that is not his target audience and read how this is quite possible.

The last part of the bookdiscussed the irrelevance of academic theology in the life of lay Christians is particularly fascinating. McGrath said the prejudices of science and how the assumptions of the laity and of science in many cases are diametrically opposed. For example, in science, the Gospels tell us to think about the evangelists and their specific particular community of faith, and tells the common Christian, the Gospel of Jesus Basically, theologians, academics and those inBible studies were undertaken largely secular, that are not accepted by most Christians outside of academia. McGrath describes as the pressure of 'Academy may not correspond with the interests of truth, academic excellence and faith. Indeed, according to McGrath, theology is in a box brain beat that Christianity in a series of ideas and spiritual concepts, rather than trapped in a holistic way of life. The picture that McGrath is right on the color academic theologysad, but to his credit he does outline a quick idea of how to solve this problem.

McGrath speaks of the need for "organic theologians or people fight theology in the context of their faith community and people outside the Christian faith to evangelize. These are people who use their brains to the Church and all other as theologians who write only for other academics to engage in a language that only they can understand. He quotes CS Lewis, GKChesterton and Dorothy Sayers as examples of people who have actually done. None of them were professional theologians, but helped to release all Christian theology.

Overall, this book is just fine. It is not really bad, but it is really good.

Decent Book for a Weak Episode - jrmspnc - Maryland, USA
I remember "Encounter at Farpoint" when the original with several high school friends and the great groan Hohn said, as we all Deanna exclaimed: "I feel joy, Captain! Great joy!" The rest of the premier episode was not very encouraging. It was not terrible *, but does not inspire great optimism, either.

David Gerrold has had an episode generally weak and could do real good as any, but could not even Shakespeare's "Encounter at Farpoint" have aFascinating reading. Of course there are some problems with local changes (eg, William "Bill calls me" Riker and Picard obsession with a woman named "Celeste"), but one can hardly blame the Gerrold.

Many sociologists and a growing number of church scholars have noted that we live in a time of transition—from the modern era to the postmodern. Whenever a shift of this magnitude occurs, it leaves all of life, including the church, in flux. We instinctively strive to stabilize the situation by re-establishing what has worked in the past.
